If you have personally trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation, you are ready to be water baptized. It follows belief in Christ, not before it. If you’re still exploring faith, we’d be glad to walk with you as you consider trusting Jesus and preparing for this step.

Water baptism represents a personal decision, so it requires enough understanding to grasp its meaning. We generally recommend middle school age or older. Younger children may be considered on a case-by-case basis, with parental involvement and consent.

Water baptism in Scripture follows a personal decision to trust in Jesus. If you were baptized as an infant, that likely reflected your parents’ faith. We encourage you to be water baptized now as your own personal declaration of faith.

If you were baptized after personally trusting in Jesus for salvation, there is no need to be baptized again. However, if your previous experience occurred before your personal faith, we encourage you to take this step.

We practice immersion because it best reflects the biblical picture of identifying with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). Going under the water symbolizes burial; rising up represents new life in Christ.

A CWC pastor will baptize you during the service. In some cases, if you have a specific pastoral or personal consideration, you may speak with a pastor in advance to discuss appropriate arrangements.
