Child Dedication

Child dedication is when parents present their child to the Lord and publicly commit to raise them in the knowledge and ways of God. It is also a time when the church commits to pray for and support the child’s spiritual growth.
“Train up a child in the way he should go…” — Proverbs 22:6

Child dedication is typically for infants through young children. There is no strict age limit, but it is intended for children who have not yet made a personal decision to follow Jesus. Most families choose to dedicate their child in the early years of life.

During the service, parents come forward with their child and pray with church leadership. The church also prays over the family for blessing, wisdom, and guidance. At the end of the service, families are often given a certificate as a keepsake to mark this meaningful moment.

No. Child dedication is not water baptism. In Scripture, water baptism follows a personal decision to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. Dedication is a commitment made by parents, while water baptism is a personal step of faith.

Child dedication is for parents or guardians who are committed to following Jesus and raising their child according to biblical principles. We encourage families to be actively connected to the life of the church.

During dedication, parents commit to:

• Raising their child according to God’s Word (Deuteronomy 6:6–7)
• Modeling a Christ-centered life
• Praying regularly for their child
• Being actively involved in a Bible-believing church

No. Salvation comes through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. Dedication does not save a child but establishes a foundation for them to personally come to know Him.
